Refuse the ending of the Lebanese State by accepting the status quo. The Lebanese government as the expression of this de facto takeover of the country by the non legal powers should be hold responsible. The Kataeb student organisation has taken the initiative to call for a symbolic demonstration just to mark this point. No for politics of appeasement is the key call. No for the survival mode is which we are entrapped for ages. we need to live, truly live.
So this demonstration has succeeded in showing that Lebanese Youth could again take the initiative in the right timing. We need benchmarks and the Kataeb youth have succeeded in putting one important one. The Lebanese government will be facing popular resistance against the tranformation of the permanent coup d'Etat into a permanent and irreversible state of affairs. When the time of change is ripe, this resistance will move from a defensive mode to a more offensive mode seeking to oust the present government and replace it with a national salvation government integrating all components of the nation.
In that sense, the demonstration has succeeded.
What is next? No snowball effect is yet expected. The ultimate goal is to pressure the government on key issues so that it finds no solution but to go. To reach that goal a process of three phases should be elaborated. Now we are in first phase which is "selective resistance" to the government acts. Only when this phase matures, we enter into a second phase of "global resistance" as a prelude to the third phase of "national salvation".
The time table is determined by different parameters: the behavior of the government in two issues, the STL and the socio-economic agenda on the one hand, and on the other, the way the Syrian question evolves. I believe that the performance of the government is full of deeds with no concrete returns. The Prime Minister is trying to buy time tactically but this time there is no strategic partner who can give a strategic return on his smart tactical moves. The only smart move for the Prime Minister, under the domestic pressure and the regional strategic vacuum, should be to find the right exit strategic decently and provoke the evident implosion of the government opening the way up to a national salvation government. The Prime Minsiter in this endeavour might find more parteners than expected.
That process is not directed against our national partners in salvation, who should be composed of all and everyone of the parties and communities, but to assert our right, the right of all and everyone, to live in dignity, in other words, in freedom, equality, justice and mutual respect.
