Kataeb and FPM officials comment on Aoun-Gemayel meeting

FPM political relations officer Gebran Bassil and Kataeb political
advisor Selim Sayegh attended yesterday’s meeting that joined Amin Gemayel and
Michel Aoun.
Sayegh told NOW Lebanon that the meeting tackled ways of
preventing a constitutional vacuum, recourse to arms and inter-Christian
clashes.
“President Gemayel had notified Lebanese Forces leader Samir
Geagea, who welcomed this step,” Sayegh told NOW Lebanon.
On his part, Bassil noted the positive aspects of the meeting.
“However, one should neither exaggerate it nor undermine it,” he said.
Sayegh noted the importance of the meeting as a step toward
breaking the ice, especially after the Metn by-elections, while Bassil said
that it could be a platform for coming meetings between Christian leaders.
